Dermaplaning (microplaning ) is a simple, quick and safe cosmetic procedure that removes the top layers of your skin. The treatment aims to remove fine lines, improve skin texture and make the skin’s surface look smoother. It is also used to remove “peach fuzz”, the short soft hairs on your face.
Dermaplaning involves manual exfoliation similar in theory to microdermabrasion but without the use of suction or abrasive crystals. An aesthetician grade, sterile blade is stroked along the skin at an angle to gently “shave off” dead skin cells from the epidermis.
As with any type of exfoliation, the removal of dead skin cells allows home care products to be more effective, reduces the appearance of fine lines, evens skin tone and assists in reducing milia and minor breakouts, closed and open comedones associated with congested pores.
Facial planing is a low-risk procedure with minimal side effects that may include slight redness of the face following the procedure.
